Lauren | Breezy Point Senior Photographer

I was so thrilled when Lauren’s mom reached out for me to take her photos while they were vacationing in Breezy Point. We met up at their super cool historic cabin within the resort and went around for a few different looks. While we chatted during the in-between moments Lauren let me know she lived in Nebraska (so cool!). She wanted something that looked a little different than the norm and involved the beautiful MN lakes and woods. I had such a great time with her family and will forever have some favorite images with her and her sweet pup!

Natalie + Eddie | Madden's Pavilion Wedding

There are so many places I could start with Natalie and Eddie's wedding. So sweet. So loving. So beachy and romantic. Set at the gorgeous Madden's Resort on Gull Lake and their new Pavilion - it was perfect!

Natalie worked through her design vision with Kate of Bloom Designs for a day filled with jaw-dropping decor and so much sweet, sweet love. Seriously, I rarely get such well behaved kiddos (and wedding parties) - it was a top-notch group. Also, Natalie probably had my favorite ever first look/first dance with her father...there was so much love there and it was felt by all.

I could go on and on, but here are the photos. If you love a light and romantic color palette this wedding is for you. The lakeside photos totally give me all the east coast ocean vibes.

Katie + Caleb | Gull Lake Wedding Photography

Katie and Caleb. Sweet, elegant, confident, romantic, pure love. I had the honor of photographing their engagement session at Katie's family cabin and when they changed venues due to this season (you know, 2020...COVID) I was so excited to return and photograph them exchange their vows on Gull Lake.

This post is heavy with images of the stunning fall flowers and Katie's gorgeous bridal look - I couldn't help myself!! Kate with Bloom Designs outdid herself with planning, decor, and floral and Chef Matt with the Woods left the guests cheering after tasty appetizers and a delicious multi-course meal.

While the weather wasn't quite on our side and the dinner was relocated indoors due to the chilly day, everything was still an absolute romantic fall dream - especially the after ceremony boat ride in Katie's dad's wooden boat named after her!

Megan + Bruce | Brainerd Wedding Photographer

I don't even know where to start with Megan and Bruce. They are magic together and overall awesome people. When I arrived on their wedding day, Megan was mid-makeup and let me know there was something on the counter for me...wrapped up in a perfect gift was saltines, ginger candy, mini ginger ale cans, and mints to care for my morning sickness - SO KIND!!! While my house and heart have both been full of foster kittens, Megan has a HUGE heart for doggies and is not only active in rescues but has a number of beautiful babies (who were present at their first look) too! And about that first look - I love when couples choose things that are so meaningful to them and we were lucky to head to Megan's family home on the Pine Beach Peninsula for lakeside portraits.

As a photographer, I feel blessed when I get to know a couple more than just on their wedding day. For their engagement session we met up in Duluth and I had brought Ethan and Preston along while we spent time photographing them in the snow. There is something about couples who feel like family and Megan and Bruce have felt that way since the day we left Duluth. Bruce is also a fellow creative and it is always fun to work with other people who love imagery as much as I do!

While their wedding had to be adjusted a bit due to the pandemic, it was still BEYOND gorgeous with flowers and decor by Bloom Designs and the planning stress was handled perfectly by Sabrina with Adore Weddings. We talked life, pets, politics (eek!) as we took photos and made the best of the beautiful September day.

Megan and Bruce - I hope you love these images as much as I do and I look forward to seeing you both (and your pups!) hopefully in the near future. ;)

Neha + Kevin | Gull Lake Wedding Photographer

Neha and Kevin celebrated their “revised” wedding in style - splashed with color and culture at Kevin’s parents lake home on Gull Lake. They were originally supposed to be married in New Orleans in a large wedding before COVID-19 had other plans and they not only downsized, but also relocated the ceremony and reception to Minnesota!

They had set up a tent the night before their wedding and to true Minnesota summer - a storm rolled in and made it almost unrecognizable. Thankful to all the guys they were able to put it back together in time for setup Saturday morning!

And how about the flowers and color?!? Neha gave Kate with Bloom Designs inspiration with tropical elements and the result was not only unique to what we usually see in northern MN, but stunning! From there we matched the rentals (tables, rugs, lounge, bar, greenery walls and accessories) and the overall design turned out to be a lifetime favorite.

If you enjoy color like I do, I think you’ll fall in love with the images below. Enjoy! And congrats Neha and Kevin - even though it wasn’t your original dream wedding day it was sure one to remember with your sweet, sweet smiles, families and friends.

Tucker | Pequot Lakes Senior Portraits

What do you do when your senior client wants action photos on the lake and his mom wants some traditional photos as well? You do both! We started Tucker's photos out on Little Pelican Lake in Breezy Point and finished up on land.

Photographing Tucker wakeboarding and wakesurfing brought back memories of the days I photographed his dad and uncle out hitting the waves when he was just a tot. Now I have to say Tucker is quite a bit cooler than we were back then (he was just featured on Kare 11!) and I can't wait to see where his career takes him! Besides being talented at all watersports and snowboarding, he's also an amazing videographer.

Haley + Mike | The Woods Wedding

Mike and Haley celebrated their wedding with their closest family and friends. This was an extra happy one for me because I previously photographed both Mike and his younger sister's senior photos - it is so special when I get to keep working with families and getting to know them over the years!

Right after Haley walked down the aisle to Mike, the rain started to pour down on their outdoor ceremony. They made the call right before to keep with it outside and I loved how they said their vows under the dark skies, just before the sun popped out for them to say I do and walk back down the aisle as husband and wife. True memories in the making for sure! :)

We briefly headed to the Brainerd Arboretum for some portraits of the just two of them before going back to The Woods for dinner. I love their portraits so much…it was almost impossible to narrow down for this post!

Laurie + Chris | Gull Lake Wedding

Laurie and Chris celebrated the sweetest wedding on a balmy July evening in their backyard. While their original wedding was supposed to be in Breckenridge, Colorado in June, they had to make changes and shift their vision like so many 2020 couples. Honestly, I couldn’t imagine a more beautiful and full of love wedding! Their children were the perfect bridal party and it was impeccably planned by Kate of Bloom Designs.

My favorite part? Oh, the colorful flowers of course! And Laurie’s sweet pup as well as the beautiful cake and romantic backyard setup! So much joy and love for an evening of happiness and warmth on Gull Lake.

Cheri + Trent | Gull Lake Wedding

Cheri and Trent's wedding was full of all the things elegant Minnesota Lake weddings are made of and more! Natural and lush flowers, a lakeside ceremony and a lovely reception celebrated outside under the evening sky.

Cheri's blue flowing dress took my breath away (honestly, I love it SO MUCH!) and the ways they included their family and pup were so sweet!

And a little note on the season we are in - I was recently talking to an upcoming bride and I had to share with her how COVID-19 has shifted not only the wedding industry, but my mindset. Personally, I adore being part of more intimate weddings and the additional lovely moments they bring. I think I speak for all wedding vendors when I say that I feel honored to still be able to be part of couples life celebrations - each weekend that arrives that I get to photograph a wedding (yes, I said "get" to, not "have" to) is a wonderful one! Here's to you, the amazing couples of 2020!

Jessica + Adam | Breezy Point Wedding

Jessica and Adam celebrated the sweetest wedding surrounded by their closest family and friends. Their ceremony and reception were both planned outdoors, but Mother Nature had different ideas throughout the day with unexpected rain and storms. Even with the changes, all I could feel during their day was LOVE, JOY and FAITH. It was so beautiful!

You know those weddings where you feel like crying during the ceremony? Yeah…it was one of those. Their children each played an important part and also all guests sang Waymaker by Leeland during a beyond uplifting moment.

So much love. So much happiness. Congratulations Jessica, Adam and family!

Alicia + Zach | Brainerd Lakes Engagement Photography

Alicia and Zach would have said I do yesterday if we weren’t experiencing what is one of the strangest things in our lifetime, COVID-19. The wedding industry has been in a bit of a holding pattern with a lot of questions of when, where, who and other thoughts looming in brides’ minds and hearts. Alicia and Zach experienced this multi-fold, with not only having to initially reschedule their wedding, but then losing their chosen venue after a series of non-sense, poor service and unfortunate events.

I am so thrilled to be the photographer for their upcoming wedding at their new venue - The Lafayette Club! I know it’s going to be lovely, and I look forward to it every day. :)

For now, here are some sweet photos taken at my family’s up north property. It was the perfect mixture of woods and structure to explore while we chatted about life, their big day and what’s to come - CONGRATS Alicia and Zach! I cannot wait to see you both say I do very soon.

Celebrating Elizabeth | Bridal Shower Photographer

When I started renovating my studio 8 years ago I only dreamed of taking photos like this in there. Now I am lucky to regularly have clients (and in this case friends) in the space that I created as my visual haven. I knew Grace had been planning for weeks (who I am kidding, it was probably months - right Grace?) for her sister Elizabeth’s bridal show. When I walked in to take photos before guests arrived I was blown away (like for real - LOTS OF WOWS came out of my mouth) - Grace and her family had outdone themselves once again! Seeing the gorgeous velvet linens, whitewash vineyard chairs and perfectly placed furniture was a true dream to photograph. Bravo ladies - once again I’m blown away with your beautiful talents! All hand lettering by Grace. :)

Megan + Bruce | Engagement Photography

I was so excited when Megan asked if we could do their engagement session in Duluth - YES, please! During their session we were able to chat while trudging through the snow and there are so many things I love about them. Bruce is the creative and has jokes for days. I am guessing he’s also looking forward to their wedding day when it will be MUCH warmer - ha! And Megan is their rock, both sweet and intentional - and they both hold the kindest love for their dogs. We (Preston and Ethan tagged along carrying my gear!) were able to meet two of their fur babies and they were so great! Even though we were chasing light all day, I still find so much romance in the grey skies and fading winter landscape.

PS - how killer does Megan look in that hat? Bruce bought it for her during a trip to Austin. I’m in love with it…bring on the hats! We may have to have one image on the wedding day with that beauty. ;)

Mollie + Blake | Engagement Photography in Brainerd

These two -> Mollie and Blake are so sweet and so kind and I cannot wait for their wedding next year at NP! For their engagement photos we wandered the NPC campus as well as shot a few images in my studio and Luminary Fern. We then headed to the Mississippi River for a little nature and even though it was past prime fall, I still absolutely love the romance and warmth in their photos. And how much do you LOVE Mollie’s velvet sweater and necklace - total heart eyes! Congratulations Mollie and Blake - here’s to a beautiful wedding day next August!

Family | Samara Point on Gull Lake

Erin and her sweet family’s vacation may have had the hottest/highest heat index/humid-crazy-ness day that existed this summer, but that didn’t stop us from documenting a small part of their family time at Samara Point Resort on Gull Lake. I am always amazed at the many hidden gems in the Brainerd Lakes area and the cabins at Samara Point Resort are definitely one of them - what an awesome place for a family getaway! Even with the high humidity, the calm lake and it’s beautiful blue tones were complimented by the lovely greens of summertime and I don’t think there is any better way to enjoy a little bit of Minnesota in July than with family.

Lia + Tony | Private Residence Wedding on the Gull River

Lia and Tony celebrated their wedding at a location that was not only meaningful to them, but was unbelieveably gorgeous on the Gull River just outside of Brainerd. Sometimes I have to pinch myself because I can’t believe I am so lucky to work with such amazing couples and share in their wedding day. I often can’t stop smiling white taking photos and pretty sure I left with pure permasmile - from the decor to Lia’s blush BHLDN dress (and Tony’s perfect shoes!) to the flowers (OMG CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE FLOWERS?!?!) to the airstream photo backdrop to the sweet and intimate ceremony and so much more - the day was perfect. Lia and Tony dined with their closest family and friends on vintage dishware that Lia had collected and they had many other little touches including wood slice guest book, custom wood ring holders and custom take home mugs with chocolate and coffee. Enjoy these sweet smiles and lush blooms - pure happiness during my favorite season - Minnesota Summertime.

Jenny + Craig | The NP Event Space Wedding

JENNY + CRAIG

Brainerd, Minnesota | Venue – The NP Event Space

Jenny and Craig's wedding was sooo "sweet." When Jenny emailed to say that the Hershey Chocolate company was playing a part in their wedding I was beyond excited to say the least. Most people don't know, but my background is in vending/foodservice and companies like Hershey were a staple of my job before I entered the wedding world and moved back to small town Minnesota to start NP. I always love when there is a small connection to my past life (and job!) in the twin cities. :) Jenny and Craig's unique Hershey/Reeses wedding story was published by multiple places - with our favorite being Brides! Even without the candy connection - there was nothing we didn't love about Jenny (and you too Craig!). When we get put with the sweetest bride on earth we truly believe we are the lucky ones.
A few months later, the couple celebrated their nuptials, and you guessed it: Their wedding was overflowing with chocolate. On February 23, Ries and Hirschey said their I do's surrounded by family, friends, and 750 pounds of chocolate. According to Delish, their big day featured custom Hershey’s Chocolate and Reese’s Peanut Butter cakes for every table, and plenty of candy for each guest to take home. Additionally, the chocolate company served lots of Hirschey Milk Chocolate Bar with Ries’s Pieces in honor of the couple. The groomsmen even got into the spirit of the theme, each wearing their own pair of brown Hershey's socks.

DANIELLE + OAK

Brainerd, Minnesota | Venue – Luminary Fern

Danielle and Oak's wedding was a real dream - complete with beautiful decor, great food and such a sweet, sweet family. Danielle planned such a stunning, classic wedding in a few short months and the results made for a winter day filled with warmth and joy. Short Stop Custom Catering served a chicken dinner that was beyond delicious and their family and friends spent the evening officially bringing their two families together - so beautiful! ELISE + BRETT

Elise and Brett's wedding was the perfect spring soirée complete with peonies, pastels and all the pretty things.  Elise's two piece flowing wedding dress fit her infectious smile and glowing personality perfectly.  Their meaningful church ceremony was followed by a dreamy reception that was designed and decorated by Bloom Designs.  Kate also hung one of my favorite ever hanging pieces in NP - a beautiful cloud of greeny and flowers - so lovely for spring!Vendor Team:Venue – The NP Event Space | Photography – Aimee Jobe Photography | Floral and Design – Bloom Designs | Lounge Rental – Farmhouse Foundry | Catering – Prairie BayWant to see more?
